Vologda Region will strengthen its leadership in agricultural production: four new investment projects worth 12 billion rubles will be promoted to priority status
The Vologda Region, which is already Russia's leader in the number of priority investment projects in the timber industry, plans to expand its portfolio. In 2025, applications will be sent to the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation for inclusion in the federal register of four new large projects with a total investment of about 12 billion rubles. Details of new investment projects The list of promising projects includes: • Totem district: Creation of facilities for deep processing of wood based on plywood production • Verkhovazhsky district: Construction of a modern sawmill and woodworking plant (LDK) • Babaevsky district: Organization of a sawmill complex and a new timber processing plant Distribution of investments by project
Importance for the region These initiatives are fully consistent with the region's strategy for the transition from export of roundwood to deep processing of wood within the region. This will create high-value-added goods, new jobs and increase tax deductions to the budget. Expert's comment "Support at the federal level in the form of priority project status gives investors significant preferences, including access to preferential financing and a simplified procedure for allocating forest resources. This is a key tool for attracting large-scale investments in the industry." Current indicators of the region It should be recalled that 26 such projects are being successfully implemented in the region today, including the unique Cherepovets Linar plant for the production of pulp from flax. High investment activity is also confirmed by statistics: in 2024, the volume of investments in fixed assets of enterprises in the region amounted to 250.4 billion rubles.
