The Cabinet of Ministers approved a 10-fold increase in fines for forest fires - United Russia insisted on this

The bill proposes to tighten and strengthen administrative responsibility for violations of fire safety requirements, including in forests. For non-compliance with the rules, it is planned to increase the amount of fines for citizens tenfold, for officials, individual entrepreneurs and legal entities - twice. The initiative was developed by the Legislative Assembly of the Kemerovo region.

The Cabinet believes that the proposed changes will increase the effectiveness of the preventive function of legislation on administrative offenses "in order to ensure strict compliance with fire safety rules and requirements and to prevent fires, including in forests."

Vyacheslav Petrov, head of the United Russia faction in the Kuzbass Parliament, Chairman of the Legislative Assembly of the Kemerovo Region, recalled that this spring the region faced not just the problem of falling dry grass, but "serious consequences of human irresponsibility."

"Dozens of families lost their homes as a result of the massive fires. One of the main factors of the problem is that the responsibility established by the Administrative Code for setting fire to dry grass, including near forests, is too low and does not allow effective fire prevention. Therefore, my colleagues and I, taking into account the seriousness of the situation, unanimously took the initiative to increase the fines tenfold," explained the speaker of the regional parliament.

Kuzbass parliamentarians propose to increase fines for citizens from 20 thousand to 40 thousand rubles, for officials from 50 thousand to 100 thousand rubles, for legal entities from 500 thousand to 1 million rubles.

"I am glad that the Russian Government supported us. I am sure that the proposed new fines will cool many heads. Now, after approval by the Government, the Kuzbass Parliament intends to submit the bill to the State Duma for consideration," Vyacheslav Petrov said.

According to the current version of the Administrative Code, citizens face a fine of 1,500 to 3,000 rubles for violating fire safety rules in forests, and 2,000 to 3,000 rubles for violating fire safety requirements.
