Arkhangelsk region introduces drones for forest protection: 150 specialists have been trained The Arkhangelsk Region is making a serious step in the digitalization of forestry. More than 150 employees of the Unified Forest Fire Center and the Federal Forestry Agency were trained under the program "Fundamentals of piloting unmanned aircraft" and began using UAVs in their work. ![]() Personnel training The training was conducted within the framework of the All-Russian program "BAS Personnel" with the participation of Innopolis University and University-2035. Experts have mastered: • Theoretical training • Work on simulators • Real flights on different types of drones Technical equipment The center is fully equipped with 38 Russian-made Geoscan drones purchased as part of the national project "Unmanned Aircraft Systems".
Practical application of the technology allows monitoring 28.4 million hectares of forest resources, promptly identify fires and record cases of illegal activity. | "This is not just a replacement for helicopters, but a qualitatively new level of control," said Anna Sheveleva, Minister of Natural Resources and the Timber Industry of the region.The introduction of drones significantly increases the effectiveness of forest protection from fires and illegal logging.
