Arkhangelsk region will become a venue for a key Russian-Chinese meeting

Arkhangelsk region will become a venue for a key Russian-Chinese meeting on the forestry complex

At the final meeting of the Arkhangelsk Regional Forest Council in 2025, Mikhail Yurin, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, supported the proposal to hold the 21st meeting of the Russian-Chinese working group on the development and use of forest resources in the region. Governor Alexander Tsybulsky confirmed his willingness to host the event, noting its benefits for demonstrating the region's potential to Chinese partners.

Key results of the year for the LPC of Pomerania
The main results of the timber industry in the first 9 months of 2025:

IndicatorDynamicsResult/Forecast
Logging+4%Positive dynamics
Pellet production+73%>140 thousand tons
Plywood production+6%Production growth
Reorientation of exports>95%To friendly markets (Africa, Middle East, Asia)
Share of pellet exportsDecline13% (domestic consumption doubled)

System calls and support
The main problems and measures of state support for the industry:

Logistics: A key factor in reducing profitability (increased costs are not compensated)
Financing (2025): More than 1.3 billion rubles have been allocated to support the LPC of the Russian Federation
Financing (2026): 600 million rubles planned
Support in the Arkhangelsk region: Out of 7 applications, 2 were supported (65 million rubles with a request of 414 million)

Strategic course
The regional authorities insist on the need for new support measures, especially subsidizing logistics, and rely on the development of deep wood processing to create a competitive export offer.

Expert opinion
"New markets, new products and effective support measures are critically needed to fulfill the task of increasing non—primary exports," said Governor Alexander Tsybulsky.

The significance of the upcoming meeting
• Holding the 21st meeting of the Russian-Chinese working group in the Arkhangelsk region
• Demonstration of the region's potential to Chinese partners
• Search for new areas of cooperation
• Stimulating the development of deep processing
