Vologda region exported 800 thousand cubic meters of timber products

    The North-Western Interregional Rosselkhoznadzor Administration summed up the interim results of control over the export of timber products from the Vologda region. From January 1 to August 4, 2026, experts checked 800 thousand cubic meters of timber exported. Compared to the same period last year, exports increased by 2% from 785,000 cubic meters. The growth is small, but steady: even in the conditions of changing economic conditions, Vologda timber producers maintain their positions in foreign markets.

Quality control and certification

    All quarantined products underwent mandatory laboratory tests at the Tver branch of FSBI VNIIZH, and then were checked by inspectors for compliance with the phytosanitary requirements of importing countries. According to the results of control measures, more than 15 thousand phytosanitary certificates were issued.

Geography of supplies

    The geography of Vologda timber products exports covers 31 countries. The main volume traditionally goes to China.

China remains the main point of attraction, accounting for more than half of all exports (62.5%). The top five largest buyers include Egypt, Turkey, Uzbekistan and the Republic of Korea. India, Vietnam and Iraq complete the list of major importers.

    Compared to the same period last year, exports increased by 2%: 785 thousand cubic meters were shipped from the region in the first seven months of 2025.

• Even in the context of global market restructuring and falling demand in certain segments, regional exporters maintain their supply volumes.

    800 thousand cubic meters of timber products exported from the Vologda Region in the first seven months of 2026, and a small but steady increase of 2% indicate the preservation of the region's export potential. China remains a key buyer (500 thousand m3), but the active development of supplies to Egypt, Turkey, Uzbekistan, India and Vietnam shows that Vologda timber producers are successfully diversifying their sales markets, reducing dependence on one direction. This is especially important in the context of ongoing uncertainty in global markets.
