Since 2013, the international day of forests the United Nations will be now celebrated all over the world. In connection with the proclamation of the International day of forests invites all UN member States to coincide with this international day of the relevant advocacy activities on specific activity in relation to all types of forests and trees. At the end of the year at the regular session of the UN General Assembly the UN Secretary General will give a detailed assessment and report on the activities of the International day of forests, which will be held all over the world.

At the meeting of the UN General Assembly marked a particularly useful contribution of national, regional and international events that took place in 2011 in the framework of the International year of forests to strengthen the sustainable management, conservation and sustainable development of forests for present and future generations.

Member States of the UN noted that after the International year of forests in 2011, not approved a single day in which all countries would offer practical and awareness-raising activities on all types of forests and trees. While almost all countries in the world, at regional, national and subnational levels, as well as at the international level traditionally hosts numerous days and activities for the protection and conservation of forests.
