The KDK-1.8 circular brushcutter is designed for chopping dense woody and shrubby vegetation with a trunk diameter of up to 10 cm in overgrown fields, on forest edges, along power lines, along highways and railways. The brushcutter is capable of cutting down free-standing trees with a diameter of up to 20 cm at the base.

The working body is a rotor in the form of a disk with three movable knives mounted on it, rotating on bearings around its axis, and fifteen tetrahedral fixed teeth. The rotor works like a flywheel and, due to its weight, has a large reserve of kinetic energy. Three knives cut down bushes and trees, chop them inside the body of the brushcutter. The teeth grind the trunks of shrubs and trees that fall inside the housing between the rotor and the ground.

The equipment is an inexpensive alternative to professional forest mulchers when removing thick-growing trees with a trunk diameter of up to 10 cm (for example, for mulching a thick-growing "solid wall" of birch undergrowth, which a hammer mulcher with a horizontal rotor for grass and bushes can no longer cope with, but there is no opportunity or desire to hire or invest in the purchase of an expensive forest mulcher worth more than a million rubles).
